Wednesday, May 27

  • 1:00 p.m.–Florida Department of Revenue Proposed Rule Hearing.  Tallahassee, Florida.  Proposed amendments to Rule 12B-8.001, “Insurance Premium Tax; Rate and Computation,” address the computation of the installment payment amount required to meet the prior year exception pursuant to s.624.5092, F.S., when a taxpayer has made one or more qualifying contributions to eligible nonprofit scholarship-funding organizations.  Section 17, Chapter 2014-184, Laws of Florida, provides that, for purposes of determining if a penalty under s.624.5092 should be imposed on the underpayment of an installment, an insurer may reduce the installment amount required to meet the prior year exception in that taxable year by the amount of the credit earned under s.624.51055 (Credit for contributions to eligible nonprofit scholarship-funding organizations).  To view the hearing notice, click here.

Tuesday, June 2

  • 9:30 a.m.–Florida Division of Workers’ Compensation Proposed Rule Hearing.  Tallahassee, Florida.  
    • Existing Rule 69L-7.710, F.A.C. has been rewritten and re-organized into five proposed Rules that are intended to replace it under existing Chapter 69L-7, entitled “Workers’ Compensation Medical Reimbursement and Utilization Review.”  The proposed Rules incorporate updated versions of Form DFS-F5-DWC-9 and related instructions, including revised instructions for dispensing practitioners when billing for dispensed medications, and for pharmacists billing on Form DFS-F5-DWC-10.  For more information and to view the hearing notice, click here.

Thursday, June 4

  • 9:30 a.m.–Florida Office of Insurance Regulation (“OIR”) Rule Development Workshop.  Tallahassee, Florida.  Proposed amendments to Rules 69O-154.202,-.203,-.204 would adopt updated National Association of Insurance Commissioners long-term disability morbidity tables.  To view the meeting notice, click here.
  • 11:00 a.m.–OIR Proposed Rule Hearing.  Tallahassee, Florida.  Proposed amendments to Rule 69D-2.005, “Compliance and Enforcement,” would clarify the Rule, which provides that the OIR “shall” conduct audits to determine insurance company compliance with anti-fraud laws and take appropriate action against insurers for failure to comply.  The amendment would change “shall” to “may” to comply with s.624.307, F.S., and would clarify that the Florida Department of Financial Services has the authority to take action for failure to comply.  To view the hearing notice, click here
