  • DWC Rule Development Workshop; 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m.  Proposed amendments to Rule 69L-3.012, “Notice of Denial,” would inform claims-handling entities of notice requirements to employees when the payment of a compensable medical benefit will be apportioned pursuant to Section 440.15(5), F.S.  To view the hearing notice, click here.
  • DWC Rule Development Workshop; 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.  Proposed Rule 69L-7.602, entitled “Florida Workers’ Compensation Medical Services Billing, Filing and Reporting,” applies to dates of injury occurring on or after October 1, 2003, and clarifies that an insurer must provide health care providers with prior notification of a decision to apply apportionment in the payment of reimbursement for medical services.  It also provides that an insurer shall, at the time of authorization or following authorization but prior to the rendering of medical service(s), provide each health care provider with written or electronic notification of such decision.  Subsection (7) of the Rule is deleted, inasmuch as the penalty provisions are transferred to Rule Chapter 69L-24, F.A.C.  To view the hearing notice, click here.

  • Florida Office of Insurance Regulation (“OIR”) Proposed Rule Hearing; 9:30 a.m.  Proposed amendments to Rules 69O-200.004,.005,.006,.009,.014,.015 would incorporate a new category of Motor Vehicle Service Agreement Companies called “Motor Vehicle Manufacturers.”  To view the hearing notice, click here.
  • OIR Proposed Rule Hearing; 10:30 a.m.  Due to its irrelevance, repeal of 69O-170 Part IV pertaining to the arbitration of rate filings is proposed.  Under recent changes to Section 627.062(6), F.S., the provision for arbitration was removed.  To view the hearing notice, click here.

Tuesday, February 28

  • OIR Proposed Rule Hearing; 9:30 a.m. Rule 69O-162.203: Adoption of 2001 Commissioners Standard Ordinary Preferred Mortality Tables for Determining Reserve Liabilities for Ordinary Life Insurance.  Rule amendments would incorporate changes made to the National Association of Insurance Commissioners’ Model Regulation, explain the conditions for use of the preferred class structure mortality tables and permit use of the mortality tables for policies issued prior to the adoption date of the original Rule.  To view the hearing notice, click here.
