Beginning with Committee staff overview of the subject, Senators will hear about the various aspects of Florida’s compulsory insurance requirements and a history of the state’s No-Fault Insurance law, also known as Personal Injury Protection (“PIP”).

Florida Office of Insurance Regulation Director of Property and Casualty Product Review Sandra Starnes will follow with a report on Florida’s Personal Auto Insurance market and the impact of HB 119, which made substantial changes to Florida’s PIP law.  She will also review the impact of eliminating No-Fault/PIP and replacing it with the mandatory purchase of Bodily Injury coverage, a proposal which various legislators have advocated during the past several years.

Ms. Starnes’ presentation includes substantial state-by-state data from the National Association of Insurance Commissioners’ Auto Insurance Database Report.
