Macedonia Rated “Sixth Best Place in the World to Start a Business”

In Miami for a brief visit on Friday, August 31, the prime minister of Macedonia, a country rated as the “Sixth Best Place in the World to Start a Business,” will address South Florida business leaders during a Greater Miami Chamber of Commerce forum at the Hilton Miami Downtown (1601 Biscayne Blvd).

Entitled “Macedonia: Land of European Opportunities,” the forum will showcase the Eastern European country’s pro-business initiatives, which have promoted strong growth and trade relationships with its neighbors.  Macedonia’s key target markets for greater trade and investment include: Import/Export, Finance and Real Estate Development, Telecommunications, Hospitality and Tourism, Biotechnology and Pharmaceuticals, Manufacturing and Food Processing.

“Just as South Florida has become a trade gateway for Latin America, Macedonia has become a gateway to the emerging economies in Eastern Europe,” explained Dana Klein, Honorary Consul General for the Republic of Macedonia and coordinator for the Prime Minister’s visit to Miami.  “Stronger trade relations will open Latin American markets up to goods from Macedonia and Eastern Europe while creating new markets for South Florida and Latin American companies in Europe.”

The prime minister, His Excellency Nikola Gruevski, will be joined by Macedonian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Investments Bill Pavlevski,  Ambassador to the U.S. Zoran Jolevski and ViKtor Mizo, CEO of the Free Zones Authority.

Part of the former Yugoslav Republic, Macedonia is considered to be one of the most trendy and sophisticated markets on the continent.

Among the national and South Florida companies that have invested in Macedonia are T-Mobile, NIPRO Corporation, Johnson Controls, Gazit Globe and Network Online.
