DHSMV PIP Sunset Update: Transaction Reporting No Longer Required

In the attached memorandum regarding the No-Fault/PIP sunset effective today, October 1, 2007, the Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles (“DHSMV”) notifies Florida insurance companies authorized to issue motor vehicle policies that it will no longer be require reporting of their books of business transactions.

In the memorandum, DHSMV also reminds that previous public records exemptions covering insurance information will no longer exist, however personal information of insurance policyholders will remain subject to federal public records law.

Verification for liability insurance will continue through the DHSMV’s electronic SR-21 Verification System, as well the mandatory reporting of SR22-26 for liability cases.
