Colodny Fass’ Tom Gallagher was a featured speaker at the Florida Hurricane Catastrophe Fund (“FHCF”) 12th Annual Participating Insurers Workshop held May 15, 2012 in Orlando, Florida.

Mr. Gallagher, an Insurance and Governmental Consultant with the Firm, was interviewed by FHCF Chief Operating Officer Jack Nicholson on the need for regulatory leadership following a catastrophic hurricane, as well as lessons learned from Hurricane Andrew in 1992.

Mr. Gallagher, former Florida Chief Financial Officer, Insurance Commissioner and veteran lawmaker, joined Colodny Fass in January 2012.  A public policy and insurance expert, Mr. Gallagher spent 13 years in the Florida Legislature.  After serving as the appointed Secretary of the Department of Professional Regulation, he was elected State Treasurer and Insurance Commissioner.  He also previously served as Florida Commissioner of Education.

The FHCF 12th Annual Participating Insurers Workshop was held at Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort. The annual workshop aims to provide participating insurers with a better understanding of the FHCF and each company’s responsibilities.  This year’s agenda focused on the long term solvency and stability of the Florida residential property insurance industry.
