Annual hurricane-items sales tax holiday starts Friday, runs one week

Starting this weekend, Floridians will have the opportunity to stock up on sales tax-free hurricane supplies.

The annual hurricane-preparedness sales tax holiday, which coincides with the start of the 2018 hurricane season, will waive the sales tax on items needed for hurricane preparedness. The tax-free holiday runs from Friday to Thursday, June 7.

Items such as portable generators under $750, batteries and coolers under $30 and any portable self-powered light source under $20 are eligible for the tax exemption.
