Senior Associate

Jonathan Rodriguez, a Senior Associate Attorney, focuses his practice on First Party Property Insurance Defense Litigation. He has successfully defended insurers in first-party coverage matters involving windstorm and water losses, as well as cases involving suspected fraud, and has provided insurance coverage opinions in complex cases involving issues of personal liability.  He also has extensive experience in the areas of civil litigation, construction, personal injury, creditor and debtor’s rights, foreclosure defense, estate planning, probate law, and criminal law.

Mr. Rodriguez earned his Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice from Florida International University, where he graduated magna cum laude in 2007.  He continued on to earn his Juris Doctor degree at Florida International University in 2011.  While attending law school, he was a member of the Editorial Board of the Law Review from 2009 to 2011. 

Prior to joining Colodny Fass, Mr. Rodriguez was an attorney with the Office of the General Counsel at Florida International University, and also practiced law in the private sector handling probate matters, property and foreclosure litigation, contractual disputes, and wrongful death cases.  His experience includes serving as local counsel for a national title insurance company, and representing clients in county, circuit, and federal courts.   

In 2010, Mr. Rodriguez had the distinction of serving as a Judicial Clerk to the Honorable Stacy Glick of the Circuit Court for Miami-Dade County in the criminal division.  During this time, he directly collaborated with the Judge on legal issues which arose in court.

Mr. Rodriguez was recently named a Florida Super Lawyer “Rising Star” in 2020. He is admitted to practice law in the State of Florida, as well as the United States District Court for the Southern District of Florida and Middle District of Florida.

A native of Miami, Mr. Rodriguez is a member of the Dade County Bar Association, Broward County Bar Association, and Cuban American Bar Association.

He is fluent in Spanish.
