Derek Silver is an attorney in the litigation practice group at Colodny Fass, where he focuses on all types of civil matters including class actions, complex commercial litigation, contract and insurance disputes, and business disputes. Prior to entering the legal profession, Derek worked as the Deputy Director of Government Affairs for the Office of Insurance Regulation. During his time with the Office, he worked on a variety of insurance issues including property, health, life, and automobile insurance. He also worked on the successful passage of HB 7069, Florida’s assignment of benefits reform. Previously, Derek worked on education policy in the Florida House of Representatives and later served as the Jewish Coalition Coordinator for Governor DeSantis’s gubernatorial campaign. After the campaign, Derek served on the Governor’s transition team. He also staffed and assisted in planning Governor DeSantis’s trade mission to Israel in 2019. In 2021 Derek was recognized as a rising star in Florida Politics by Influence Magazine. He also serves on the board of the Jewish Alumni Network at Florida State University. Derek received his Juris Doctorate from the Florida State University College of Law.
